    Week 16 Weigh In

    Woooo Hoooooo.  I have to say that this week's weigh in was actually pretty good.  I ended up losing 2 more pounds this week and I'm down to 219!  I'm actually in the teens!!!  I can't even remember the last time I can say that I'm in the teens!  It's a good feeling.  I've been eating decent, not the greatest, but I haven't been cheating.  I think it's a little over the portions that I should be eating, but I continue to eat healthy and I guess it's paying off.  I'm down 39.5 pounds.  Next week I'm hoping to break the 40 pound mark.  I haven't been updating my food diary on this site, I've just been too busy, but hopefully I will get going on it again soon.  I've continued walking with my sister as much as possible at night.  Good Luck to everyone!  Until next week~

    Week 15 Weigh In

    Update from my weigh in on Wednesday, I'm down to 221 pounds for a total of 37.5 from the beginning of the year!  This week I lost another two pounds.  I've been trying to continue this journey, which I do want to finish, however, it's gotten harden ever since the contest at my job and the Million Pound Match up ended.  I have to keep realizing that I'm not gonna lose all the weight over night.  It's a slow process.  But sometimes it gets fustrating, but I've been trying to stay focused.  During the week, I try to walk during lunch at work every day and in the evenings.  I will try to continue that.  Well, this is just a short blog to keep everyone updated!  Good Luck to everyone continuing on this journey!

    Week 14 Weigh In

    Hi All!  It's been a while since I last blogged.  I've been pretty busy with everything in my life and I've had a cold for a while so haven't really had time to sit down and write a blog.  But here I am!  Last week I had gained 2 pounds from being down in Florida which wasn't too bad, it could have been a lot worse.  Today, I weighed in again and lost 1.5 pounds this week.  So now I am only .5 pound up from before I went to Florida.  I'm continuing with this journey.  I just finished walking during my lunch break at work.  It's actually beautiful out today in NY, about 70, so I decided to take advantage of the weather and go for a nice long walk.  Well, just checkin in to let everyone know that I haven't given up and I'm still here!

    Trip to Florida

    Well, I'm back from my mini vacation in Florida for my friend's wedding.  Thursday when I got there I was so gung ho to actually continue this diet.  I even went to the gym at the hotel and worked out for about an hour, ate good and had no problems.  Then Friday came and it was ALL downhill from there.  I had Checkers one day and then finger foods at the rehearsal dinner and then the wedding, which wasn't too bad with the eating, but the drinking is what caused the down fall.  Even tho, I didn't eat good, I had a great time and I guess sometimes you just have to go off and enjoy yourself even tho your going to have to get right back into it after you get back from the vacation.  I haven't checked out the damage on a scale yet, I figure I would wait until my weigh in to see how everything went.  I did alot of walking since the hotel was so big, so I'm hoping that will help me with my weigh in on Wednesday.  I'm gonna post some up to date pictures from this week which should show my 36 pound weight loss so far.  But I'm letting everyone know that I jumped right back into eating right this morning and will continue until I get to my goal weight!!!GroupHPIM0142HPIM0230HPIM0238Joey&Lisa4

    Week 12

    Today was my 12th weigh in and also the end of "The Biggest Loser" competition at my job.  I'm happy to tell you that I lost 3.5 pounds this week for a total of 36 pounds in 12 weeks and that was enough to win the competition!!!!!  The girl that was in 2nd place ended up only losing 1.5 pounds.  It was such a relief after I won.  I worked so hard all week, afraid that this girl in 2nd place was going to pull a really really high number.  But everything worked out in the end.  Tomorrow I go to Florida with the winnings from the contest and it's good to know that I have extra money now!  Sorry I haven't written in a while or updated my food diary, just been really busy.  I will update my pics after I get back from Florida!

    Shopping for Vacation

    Yesterday I went shopping to a pick up some clothes for my mini vacation down in Orlando Florida.  I decided to go to a Rainbow Shop figuring I didn't want to spend alot of money on clothes that will be temporary since I'm still losing weight.  So anyway, as everyone knows when you go to "cheap" clothing stores that have plus sizes, the clothes actually run like 2 sizes smaller then they should.  I ended up buying a size 18 pair of capris!  I was sooo excited!!  Bought a few other items without trying them on and when I got home, EVERYTHING fit!!!   So, now that I'm set with all the clothes for Florida, I'm now starting to get worried about sticking with this diet.  I'm going down there for a wedding and I know at the wedding, the food will be limited to what the Bride and Groom decided to get, so I decided I will give myself a free pass for that day, but not overdo it.  I plan on working out at the hotel gym on Thursday & Friday, to help with the calorie intake of Saturday, which is when the Wedding is.  So hopefully this will help with my free pass.  Another issue, other than the food is going to be the liquor.  I've been so good for over three months, haven't had a drink since the weekend before New Years.  Before the New Year, me and my husband would go to the bars with our friends pretty much every weekend, and I've totally cut it out because I know how many empty calories liquor has, especially the Long Island Iced Teas that I used to drink!!  That drink alone has about 600-700 calories!!  Just imagine, I wouldn't even be able to drink 2 of them with the calories that I have been consuming every day LOL  It's amazing how I've changed my life!  I decided that if I do decide to have a few drinks, I'll have to stick with Bicardi and Dt. Coke which is 66 Calories. 
     
    On another note, the contest at my job is almost at the end, I have until Wednesday to get a move on and try to take 1st Prize.  I will keep everyone updated!  Good Luck to everyone at their next weigh in!

    Weigh In Week 11

    I've lost another 4 pounds!!! Hot  for a total of 32.5 pounds!!!  I'm soo happy, especially with being sick and not being able to exercise as much as I wanted this week.  This will definately help out in the competition that is going on at work.  I have one week left before the competition ends and I'm confident that I have a chance to succeed and win!!
     
    Today, was a crappy day in NY with rain ALL day Umbrella so unfortunately, I didn't get to walk like I usually do every day during lunch and at night, but tomorrow is suppose to be alot nicer, so I will definately get a start to my exercising for the week.

    My Partner - Lisa

    A few blogs ago I had let everyone know that my partner ended up finding a new job, but was going to continue on with her weight loss journey, unfortunately, I have not heard from her since that time.  I've tried to get in contact with her without any success.  So, with that said, since the MPM is over with, it's time I set up the page as my own.  I'm sorry to see that she will not be continuing this journey with me, but it's best that we go our seperate ways at this point.
     
    On another note, I'm still sick :(  Stayed home from work again.  This cold is kickin' my butt!!!  It's driving me crazy that I'm not able to exercise, but I guess it will come with time.

    Happy St. Patty's Day - Lisa

    Well since today was St. Patty's Day, I splurge and had Corned Beef and Cabbage with Carrots and One Small Boiled Potato!  I couldn't resist.  My mother made it for the holiday and since I usually only get it once a year, I decided to just go for it.  Before I went, I went to calorie-count.com to check out all the badness I was about to consume.  The calories weren't that bad for the Corned beef, it was 213 calories for 3 ounces, BUT there was almost 17 grams of fat!  OUCH!!!!  But, needless to say, I ate it and it was sooo good.  I kinda regret it now that I had it, but you can't deprive yourself of anything.  I had my 3 oz. and filled up on Cabbage which barely has any calories.  Other then that, I did okay over the weekend with my eating, but exercise was non-existant.  I woke up this morning with a cold :( and I'm hoping that it will go away so I can really start the exercising again!  I wouldn't mind it to much that I'm not exercising except that the competition at work is so close, I need to get a move on so I don't fall to 2nd place.  Hope everyone had a great day and good luck on everyones weigh in this week!!!  I have two days til my next weigh in, I'll keep everyone posted!!!

    Weekends - Lisa

    Today is my town's St. Patrick's Day Parade and it goes right by my apartment.  So I'm sitting here listening to all the bagpipes and bands playing as they go by.  I'm enjoying the fact that I don't even have to go out since it's not such a nice day here in NY.  Anyway, I finally decided that I don't like weekends.  I usually give myself those two days off from exercising which is a nice break, however, since I really don't do much on the weekends besides lounge around the house, I tend to eat because I'm bored.  Not that I eat bad, I usually stay within my 1200 calories that I have been following, but it just seems like I'm always going into the kitchen or the refrigerator to get something else to snack on.  I'm not much of an emotional eater, I tend to be a "boredom" eater, if that makes any sense.  I figure if I force myself to drink alot of water, that should make me feel full, but, OH how I HATE water lol.  Not much of a fan, as I have said in my prior blogs.  I think maybe if I exercise tonight it will make me fel like I acually did something this weekend.  Gonna go get some water now!  Hope everyone is continuing this journey!  Good Luck to All!

    Friends - Lisa

    Well, I've been trying to clean up my friends on Spaces for the past two days and it's driving me insane.  At the beginning of this competition I had gone through all different pages and added lots of people onto my friends list.  Several of them never responded, so they were never put on my friends list.  So, I've been sitting here deleting alot of friends that never responded!  I'm talking hundreds! LOL  I don't know what I was thinking when I requested all these people.  The worst part of this process is that you have to go one by one and click on their name and say you want to delete it, so it's a looooooooong drawn out process.  Well, I've finally gotten to the point, where I've deleted all the people that never responded and now I'm trying to weed through all the people that are still on my friends list that don't have anything recent.  My assumption is that they are not doing this anymore if they haven't posted anything since January or middle of February.  This is definately a nightmare, but I'm determined to actually get down to only the people that are continuing their weight loss journey!
     
    On another note, The competition at work is almost over.  Right now, I am in first place with 11.03% weight lost.  The second place person is at 10.21% and the thirda place person is 9.71%.  So it's down to us three and it will all depend on the last weigh in that takes place on 3/26/08!  I really need to bust my a** for the next two weeks and try to pull really good numbers in order to win this.  I hate that the competition is sooo close.  I'm going crazy.  I've been walking every lunch hour and then go out walking at night for another hour and 15 minutes.  So doing this, I am working out about 2 hours a day.  I am very determined to succeed!
     
     
     
     
    March 12

    Week 10 Weigh in

    I have continued to lose weight each week which I am very thankful for!  I lost another 2 this week for a total of 28.5 pounds which is 11.03% of my weight lost so far!!!  I'm very happy with the results.  It definately gives me more motivation to see the scale moving in the right direction.
     
    The Contest at my job has gotten harder.  I am finally in first place, but there is one woman that is close to me and she is a lot smaller then me, and as you all know, that means that even if we lose the same amount of weight, she will go ahead of me and end up winning the contest.  As you can tell, the contest is obviously based on percentage of weight lost.  It's sort of stressing me out knowing that she could end up winning it all.  It's kinda a bummer knowing that I am down 28.5 pounds and she is down 16, but she could still win in the long run!  I'm gonna have to step up my game the next two weeks and hope that I don't plateau or something!! 
     
    I've been really slacking on the whole water thing!  I've had a problem with drinking my allotted amount of water each day.  I am just now a water person, never have been and I guess never will me.  I'm figuring if I start drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day, maybe I will lose my water weight again LOL  Well, this is my day off from exercising for the week and for some reason I feel guilty about not doing anything.  I actually can't say that I didn't do anything.  Every lunch time, me and a co worker walk over a mile during lunch, so I did get to do some sort of exercise, but not as much as I usually do.

    Shopping - Lisa

    Today I went to the mall to go shopping for a dress that I am going to wear at a wedding that is down in Florida in two weeks.  I decided to hold off getting a dress until now since I've been dieting.  Well, I went into one store that carried all fancy dresses in regular and plus sizes.  In the past, I never looked forward to going to these type of stores because I never liked the way any of the dresses fit me.  All the dressed seem to make my stomach stand out way to much.  So anyway, I went through the dresses, not knowing what size to get.  I used to wear a 24 until I had lost the 26.5 pounds, so I decided to try a 20 and ended up getting one size 18 because they didn't have that particular dress in a 20.  I ended up grabbing like 10 dresses in all different styles and colors, tried them all on and I ended up like the size 18!!  I was so excited that I went down so many sizes.  That basically made my week.  I actually enjoyed trying on all the dresses because they all actually fit me good.  So I'm all set to go to Florida.  I think little things like this will actually encourage me to continue to lose weight and be happy about it!  Hope everyone is doing good and talk to you all soon!!!

    Week 9 Weigh In - Lisa

    I lost another 2.5 pounds for a total of 26.5 pounds!  I'm so excited.  I've been working really hard and dedicated more then ever to get to my goal weight.  I have booked a vacation to Jamaica in July and my goal is to be at least under 200!  I have a few obstacles in the way.  One of them being my birthday on Tuesday, which is also the end of this contest!  I'll just have to control what I eat when I go out to dinner, but I'm sure I'm gonna be fine.  The other obstacle is a wedding that I need to attend down in Orlando Florida.   This is at the end of the month and I'm sure it's gonna be all dinner's at restaurants for the days other then the actual wedding.  I'm sort of dreading it.  My downfall is usually the drinking and I haven't had a drink since the New Year since I've been so motivated to lose the weight.  I'm just gonna have to stick it out and I'm sure I won't do to bad.  Well, enough dwelling into the future lol.  I'm happy with what I lost this week and I'm gonna take it one day at a time.

    Week 8 Weigh In - Lisa

    I lost another pound!  Which isn't too bad since I had lost 6.5 pounds last week.  I was definately hoping for more.  But I can't complain.  I've continued to walk every night with my sister, even in the freezing cold!!  Eva also did great this week losing 3.5 pounds.  I'm proud of her and the way she got right back in it.  Some sad news.  Eva is a co-worker of mine and she has decided to take job at another company.  She will be greatly missed at work.  However, she is going to continue with this journey and keep everyone updated with her progress.  It's definately gonna be harder, since I will not see her everyday.  But she is making her life better which is the most important part.  I wish her luck at her new job and will try to encourage her to continue with this journey.   Well, that's pretty much it.  Will update again soon!

    Snow Day - Lisa

    Today in NY is ALL snow.  First big snow storm of the year here.  My office actually closed for the day, which is a good thing since now I have a long weekend!  We have about 5 inches already and it's suppose to snow/freezing rain all night into tomorrow morning, so it looks like I'm not gonna be able to do my normal walking tonight because of it!  I'm kinda bummed out because I've actually been enjoying the walks that me and my sister do at night.  Looks like I'm gonna have to try to get some exercise in on the elliptical machine that I have in my house.  It's so much harder to get motivated to do my exercises on a machine at home because it gets boring fast.  I haven't found anything to occupy my time when I'm working out at home.  I've tried music, watching a movie, but nothing keeps me going.
     
    On another note, I'm now fitting into my old clothes that haven't fit me in ages!!  WooHoo.  That is such a good feeling.  I know we haven't updated pictures in quite some time, but I'm gonna get some pics taken over the weekend and will update!

    Week 7 - Lisa

    Today was weight in and I'm VERY happy to say that I lost 6 more pounds for a total of 23 pounds so far!!!!  I've been working very hard for the past week.  I bought a Pedometer and it's actually been helping alot.  I've been walking about 5 miles a day and burning between 800 to 950 calories. 
     
    The competition at work is going great.  Right now, I'm in second place, working my way to 1st place! 
     
    I've been eating really good, trying to keep up with 1200 calories a day, weighing all my meats and measuring all the veggies that I have been eating.  I'm not doing that great on the water intake that I should be having each day, but I try. 
     
    I guess exercising does pay off in the long run.  I was shocked to see the 6 pound drop, but I'm so very happy.  It has definately made my week!  I'm just hoping to keep it up.  I will continue to walk every night, even know though it's been like 30 degrees at night.  But I'm determined to keep going.

    Week 6 Weigh In - Lisa

    I'M SOOO HAPPY!!!  I guess adding more calories to my diet actually paid off.  I was afraid that it would backfire on me.  I had been eating 1000 calories a day and decided to up it to 1200 calories, and I lost 3 pounds this week!!!  The calculations that I have figured out for my weight, height and age should have been a little over 1600, but I just can't eat that much.
     
    New Pictures of me and Eva will be put up shortly, hopefully, you will be able to notice the difference!!
     
    As you can tell, Eva is back!!! Yay!  She's actually very motivated and I'm proud of her continuing to pursue this journey.
     
    Well, tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I already told my husband NOT to get me chocolates!  His response was "Why not, a box of chocolates will not make you gain back the weight you have lost!" LOL  Sometimes, they just don't understand!  So, hopefully, he won't come home with a box of chocolates for me tomorrow because they are just gonna go to waste!  I won't even have one, I don't want to get the taste for chocolate because I'm just going to want to have more and more.  So I'd rather not have any.
     
    I bought a Pedometer over the weekend and I think it was a great buy.  I've been wearing it everyday.  When you set it up, you actually put your weight and the size of your step so it can give you an accurate count on the calories you have burned, how many steps you have taken, the distance you have walked and has the time!  Well today, I wore it to work and then went out walking with my sister (in the rain/snow) and ended up walking a total of 4.79 miles burning 961 calories!!!  So, I almost burned off every calorie that I ate today.  I have every intention on continuing the walking and in between to get some work out on the elliptical machine at my house.
     
    The problem with the elliptical machine is the fact that I live in the third floor apartment in a private house and I don't think the neighbors downstairs would appreciate the noise.  Actually, I'm really not sure if it makes any noise, but I guess I just don't want to take that chance!
     
    I'm feeling more and more determined since I lost 3 pounds this week.  I really think it has to do with the walking that I have been doing with my sister.  I started doing it last week and have been working really hard.  But of course, when weigh in time came, I was still nervous.  I guess it's just the whole "plateau" thing that may be coming.  I've been losing pretty consistently and I know everyone usually plateaus sooner or later.  I'm definately hoping for later :)
     
    I'm getting ready to plan a nice vacation to the Carribean or Mexico in July, which I haven't decided where yet. (If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know)  I've never been to an island and decided the best way to go is for an All-Inclusive resort.  I'm determined to work hard at this journey so I have to buy all new clothes for the vacation ;)~  I also have to go to a wedding in Florida at the end of March, so I will just have to stay focused and not overdo it when I'm there and try to stick to some sort of eating plan where I don't go too overboard.

    Week 6 - Eva

    It's been a long time since I've written a blog, and to be quite honest, I've missed showing some love to those bloggers who have been writing great content week in and week out especially Lisa.  Here's what I've been doing over the past couple of weeks:
     
    I've struggled with my weight which basically means that I struggled to take weight off.  Putting it on was very easy.  I think one of the hardest things for me to master with losing weight is to not let life get me down.  I've been feeling heavier lately.  Stepping on the scale this morning, my hunch was correct.  I lost 1.5 pounds since my weight gain, but I'm still down 4 pounds down from my original starting weight)  I can directly relate this weight fluctuation to my monthly cycle.....lol
     
    I have still been watching what I eat.  I love salads, so I have been having those for lunch when I can.  As for exercising, tomorrow, I am going to try something new.  I am going to set my alarm for 5:30am and try my best to NOT hit the snooze button.  After getting up, I'll take care of a few morning things and then exercise for at least 30 minutes on the elliptical machine.  Well, I am off for now since I have work to do.  My plan for this week is to keep eating in moderation and keep active during my non-working hours and post more blogs.

    What to do?!? - Lisa

    I've been doing pretty good with raising my calories this week.  Hopefully it won't backfire on me.  I went walking with my sister yesterday, walked three miles!  I was so sore when I woke up this morning.  Make another healthy dinner out of the book that I recently got.  It was Orange glazed Chicken with Rosemary.  It was Yummy and only 180 calories :)
     
    On another note, Doesn't seem like Eva is into the whole diet and contest thing.  She hasn't been involved much and it's getting to me.  I'm not getting much support, it's excuse after excuse and it seems like I'm doing all the work!!  I don't know whether or not just to drop out with her and make a new site for the contest with my sister, who I think would be more into it.  I'll have to speak to my sister and see what she thinks about it.  At least, even after the contest is over, most people have said that they will continue to update their weight loss journey.  So it's definately not close to being over and these sites gives such support and encouragement to continue on with this part of my life.  Anyway, once I figure everything out, I will let everyone know.  Until then.......
